Vallekilde Learning Village, Denmark
Learning Village at Historical Vallekilde Folk Highschool (June 2-6th, 2013)
A Learning Village is a unique opportunity to get clear on your purpose in the crisis, to start acting more wise together and to build network and connections. You will be part of connecting the dots between the change-makers (Trojan mice) in different countries who often seem lonely in their pioneering work. Participants can bring their ideas and projects and will have ‘open space’ to explore them with others and collective support to bring them alive.

This invitation-video is about the founding story of Denmark, starting with the bankruptcy exactly 200 year ago.
It was a time after which a golden age of innovation and creativity was born and the present institutions, democracy, systemic structures and mindset was formed. Some of the beautiful ideas from that time we might have forgotten and need to revitalize, some of them does not work anymore and has to be changed completely.
So what is ours to do today? What are the seeds for change and possibility that lie in the present crises? How do we evolve people power and learn to be strong together in the local and global community in times of fundamental change? How do we connect the dots between different possibilities and initiatives ?
We will help each other get more clear on these structural and mental issues.
Who will you meet?
You will meet qualified facilitators, storytellers and artists and a welcoming atmosphere – the best conditions for learning the dance of the individual and the collective and experiencing and practicing collective co-creation.

Learning Village
The Learning Village as a non-competitive learning lab is rooted in the Danish Folk Highschool movement and it’s concept of life-long learning, and has been practiced at Vallekilde Folk Highschool from the foundation in 1865. Stories have been told here ever since and people became inspired to go out and do good community work afterwards. At the heart of this ‘Learning Village’ are also stories as transformational tools.
Stories of transformation
We will weave stories about our ancestors and about our time, our neighborhood initiatives, community building around wind-energy and organic farming. Small stories will intermingle with systemic stories, and we will weave on the story and the actions of our time, as we would like it to be told by future generations. The kick-off story is about the crisis Denmark went through 200 years ago.
Keeping the conversations alive
We think of this year’s Constitution Day at Vallekilde as a public conversation lab. We would like you to explore with us how we best frame a truly participatory, cross-generational and co-creating dialogue on the society and community we want. We believe, many of us long for conversations that matter and involve citizens across age, ethnicity, tradition and gender. Contribute with your gifts in a common learning on how we create such collective conversations. On Constitution Day Wednesday May the 5th Vallekilde Folk High School will open the doors for the public. Participants of the Learning Village will step in as storytellers, hosts, harvesters and participants in the public dialogues at the Constitution Day Meeting.
