an invitation to explore & practice
the art of participatory leadership

In invitation we would like to offer a poem from one of our calling team that speaks to the heart of our call to practice in Northern Ireland.

[ t h e ] n o r t h [ e r n ] [ o f ] i r e l a n d
by Pádraig Ó Tuama

It is both a dignity and
a difficulty
to live between these
names,

perceiving politics
in the syntax of
the state.

And at the end of the day,
the reality is
that whether we
change
or whether we stay
the same

these questions will
remain.

Who are we
to be
with one
another?

and

How are we
to be
with one
another?

and

What to do
with all those memories
of all those funerals?

and

What about those present
whose past was blasted
far beyond their
future?

I wake.
You wake.
She wakes.
He wakes.
They wake.

We Wake
and take
this troubled beauty forward.

—-
It seems that wherever we look, the old systems are shaking and power structures are tired.  People are looking for spaces to come into meaningful conversation together and to take responsibility to create the future they want.

We are saturated with images of how
societies, home and abroad, are being polarized to the extremes and things are falling apart, but what will help them come together? What are the capacities all of us can practice to help a new future arise?

Perhaps you’ve also been asking yourself these questions:

How can we invite others and ourselves into a civic democracy 2.0, and work in ways that create a sense of hope and engagement?

How can we create spaces for people to come together in meaningful conversation that helps us shape and take wiser action together?

What are the capacities we can practice together that will create a root system for a different future?

While this training does carry an intention to build regional capacity in Participatory Leadership, we invite practitioners from around the world to join us and to connect with other practitioners, leaders and social innovators seeking to build their leadership capacity and serve their community. We look forward to welcoming you, your questions, your projects and your contributions.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us via the website.
